Amilia Alcema
Dual BS, MBA, LNHA
Chief Executive Officer
Amilia Alcema is the Chief Executive Officer of Arising Behavioral Health and Services, and she is a highly respected leader in the healthcare industry. With over 20 years of experience, she has dedicated her career to serving underserved communities, specifically in the District of Columbia for over 7 years. Amilia is known for her ability to turn around struggling skilled nursing and rehab facilities, taking a holistic approach to ensure clients receive the highest level of care while creating a safe and trusting work environment for her employees. She has worked closely with pharmacy consultants, psychiatrists, and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners to ensure that clients' drug regimens are free from unnecessary medication. Her exceptional leadership skills were recognized when she was nominated for and received the title of Licensed Nursing Home Administrator of the Year by the District of Columbia Health Care Association in 2017. Amilia is the first person to have successfully led a consulting management team responsible for operating 889 skilled nursing rehab beds with over 500 employees in the District of Columbia for over 4 years. Moreover, Amilia has provided training as a licensed preceptor to many professionals who are now working as Licensed Nursing Home Administrators in the DMV area. Despite spending over two decades in the healthcare industry, Amilia noticed the lack of mental health services provided to individuals who are in dire need, and this has motivated her to continue her journey of giving back. In December 2022, Amilia resigned from her position as Regional Director of Operations of a successful healthcare consulting firm to continue her passion for serving underserved communities and ensuring they receive the proper mental and behavioral services they deserve. Amilia's personal experiences living through her mother's loss as an orphan at a young age and migrating to the United States from Haiti at 16 years old, have motivated her to serve others and inspire those around her.
Amilia obtained her diploma as a licensed practical nurse from the University of the District of Columbia. She furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, with a concentration in Communication Studies, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Maryland Global Campus, and a Master's degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Public and Community Health at Trinity, Washington University in Washington DC. She is also a licensed nursing home administrator in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia. As a fierce leader in the healthcare industry, Amilia always reminds her employees and colleagues that drinking from the cup of service is not always easy, but it is a calling because the care we give is the care we will receive one day.
